Dating back to the summer of 1928, the Sproat Lake Regatta—now known as Lightning on the Lake—will be making a splash again at Sproat Lake Provincial Park this July.
The two-day boat racing event will feature various races including events for formula one boats, which were last at the event in 2015 according to one of the event organizers.
Lightning on the Lake
The original Sproat Lake Regatta was held in 1928 and featured boats of up to 20 horsepower and races as long as five miles. In 1930, the Sproat Lake Motor Boat Club expanded on this event to set the roots for the modern day event we know and love.
Nowadays, visitors can enjoy swimming and water sport competitions and performances, as well as the thrilling races! Admission is by donation.
