5 Western Canada festivals to take your foodie and beer loving dad
There are a million ways to celebrate Dad this Father's Day, but if your dad is an avid foodie, his favourite way to enjoy it would be spending the day with you at a food and drink festival. So, on June 16, plan a perfect Father's Day gift that will really show your father how much you care about his passion for food. Grab a couple of tickets to these festivals and you'll be the favourite child in no time.
1) Taste of Vermilion
Treat your dad's taste buds to a province-wide feast from the goodness of Alberta’s best farmers,food artisans and craft brewers. The taste of Vermilion Festival is happening on June 28 at a new location, the Vermilion Ag Grounds.
Food vendors will be offering samples of tasty food from perogies to pulled pork sliders, ice cream and savoury Asian treats. You betcha, there will be ice cream.
2) Squamish Beer Festival
Does your dad love craft beer? The Squamish Beer Festival features some of the best brews from more than 55 craft breweries and craft cideries who will showcase their latest and greatest brews. It is an annual half-day event where more than 2,000 beer lovers will come together to celebrate their passion for great beer and mountain culture. Nestled in the heart of Sea to Sky Country and right in the heart of downtown Squamish, there will be food trucks, games, axe throwing, DJs, live music and fun!
3) A Taste of Edmonton
Have a dad who loves to eat everything?! A Taste of Edmonton Festival is one of the city’s most popular festivals, with 500,000 people attending it every year. Entering its 35th year, A Taste of Edmonton is a dazzling array of tastes and sounds that fill Churchill Square, with over 92 samples to devour.
4) Taber Corn Fest
Does dad love barbecuing? Taber Cornfest is one of Southern Alberta’s largest outdoor festivals where admission is FREE and there is entertainment and activities for people of all ages.
Enjoy events including corn stuffing, Corn Country Cruisers car show, Pancake Breakfast, and midway rides. Free live entertainment will be provided Friday and Saturday. The weekend ends with a fireworks show Saturday evening, all while chowing down on some world-famous Taber corn.
5) Great Canadian Beer Festival
Held outdoors in Victoria at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria on the Friday and Saturday after Labour Day every September, the Great Canadian Beer Festival has been going strong since 1993. This is a bucket-list event for beer lovers, and tickets usually sell out soon after they go on sale.
