What started as a memorial for a local youth in 2014 on a five-acre property has now blossomed into a major musical event for Port Alberni. The call for more space shifted the festival to the beautiful McLean Mill Historic Park. Now, people staying for the weekend can camp on-site to stroll over to the stages, to the games, to the food vendors and to the locally brewed craft beer! There will be Artisan vendors offering massages, henna tattoos, face-painting for the kids historically this has only been a 19+ event, we are allowing/implementing Family friendly on the Sunday only. It will allow us to see how well it works, it will be a soft introduction to help ensure it is done well and goes without incident – with this it sounds like the whole event is kid friendly and we don’t want to market it with that image (this was expressed in the interview), acro yoga/hula, guided meditation, and shared reiki workshops.
