Brooks Medieval Faire

Between 2003 and 2019, Brooks held the largest gathering of medieval and historical re-enactments in Western Canada.

This is an archival page; no current info about this event is available.

Location: Brooks, Alberta

The Brooks Medieval Faire started as a fund raiser in 2003 for the local library but has grown into a massive event of clashing swords, armoured combats and real jousting on yes, real horses! Nearly 5 acres of action, three stages of entertainment, food, fine spirits, and dances. And of course…a king and queen with their glittering court!

Teams of Medieval armoured competitors from all over Western Canada come for the weekend to compete in the historical European Martial arts competition. It’s like MMA but using ancient weapons like longswords, sword & shields and daggers.

All weekend long performers and re-enactors bring the medieval times to life with a 14th century tent encampment. There will be lots of clashing of the clans going on with knights in armour engaging in real battles. (not to the bitter end of course…this is 2018 not 1450!). New this year, try out axe throwing and learn how to throw your weapon like a barbarian!

You won’t want to miss the jousting display by The Knights of Valour. This troupe of tough guys put on a show/competition that will amaze you. Rigged in full armour atop beautiful steeds they charge at each other and take aim to knock each other down. And they do. It’s a rough knock em down real event that get the crowd on their feet.

The Kids Kingdom will be a hit with the princesses and princes in your clan. A petting zoo, fun, crafts and games will amuse them for hours.

The Artisan Marketplace has food and crafts and everything a medieval (or modern) family could want.
